USAID had offered its employees and their supervisors flexibility, including the postponing of Permanent Change Station (PCS) travel, flexible work schedules, and excused absences.
Moving forward, USAID decided that its operations to ensure sustainability for the longer term need to regularize the status of its personnel overseas. The guidance in this notice applies to USAID’s Foreign Service Officers, staff on Foreign Service Limited appointments, US Personal Services Contractors, and Third-Country-National Personal Services Contractors. Authorized departures (ADs) are scheduled to end no later than December 9, 2020.
The Department of State issued a memo indicating that global ADs for those who believed themselves to be at heightened risk of health issues if exposed to COVID-19 will end no later than December 9, 2020.
The Department of Defense has not issued guidelines or directives about the end of ADs. As a result, it is not yet clear what options will be available to Department of Defense Education Activity employees currently on AD. It is expected that DOD will issue such guidelines soon.
